The method

Every movement has a shape.

  1. Circle Leg circles

Hip control. The pelvis stays still while the leg draws.

“Draw it the size of a dinner plate, then a tea saucer.”

    InReformer Signature, Long Sunday

  2. Curl Roll down

Spinal articulation, one vertebra at a time.

“Peel off the wall like tape, not like a plank.”

InMat & Small Props, Strength & Mobility

  3. Arch Bridge

Glutes and hamstrings, holding a long line through the hips.

“Hips float up. Ribs stay heavy.”

    InReformer Strong

  4. Line Long stretch

Whole-body strength, holding one line from heels to crown.

“Be a plank the springs are trying to fold.”

    InReformer Foundations

  5. Wave The Hundred

Breath and the deep abdominals: five counts in, five out.

“Pulse the arms, not the shoulders.”

InSlow Reformer, Pre & Postnatal Reformer

8classes,3loads.

The studio

Upstairs, in the Arch Room.

  1. 6

    Six reformers, never more

Two rows of three with room to walk between them, so your instructor sees every spine and every spring.

  2. 01

    Lit niches

Balls, rings and mats live in the walls. Nothing on the floor, nothing to step around.

  3. 02

    An olive in stone

The one green thing in the room, and the colour of the upholstery.

  4. 03

    Sheer linen

Harbour light comes in softened: no glare at 6am, no blinds to fight at 5pm.

Getting here

Up the stairs, above the village.

First floor, Double Bay village, Double Bay 2028. By ferry from the Quay, a short walk from Edgecliff station, or on the bus along New South Head Road.

Double Bay wharf

F7 from Circular Quay via Darling Point. The wharf is on Bay Street; walk up Bay Street into the village.

Up one flight of stone stairs from the village, a few minutes’ walk from Knox Street and the wharf. As a concept studio, MOVA claims no real premises — the full street address you would get on booking is deliberately left out.
